I just recently put my o/r x-pipe on and to be honest I don't remeber seeing a drain plug on the ole t-45. I was wondering if anyone knows where to find a how-to guide on how to change the tranny fluid. My car has 90k miles on it and I doubt that it has been done before. Also what fluid do we have to use? I think its Mercon V atf but can we run gl4 like redline through it? what about the mobil 1, Hurst or syncromesh fluids, will those work? Thanks!

The fill plug is on the passenger side up towards the top. The drain plug is the lower one on the pass side.

You can run Mercon V or compatible ATF. I use Royal Purples Synchromax.

the easiest way to fill it is drain it, find the exact amount its suppose to take, i cant remember at the moment, remove the shifter and pour it in the top and ur done. much easier than using a pump and trying to get it in the fill hole. takes about 2 minutes to take the shifter off. nothing to it.

ATF and I pulled the shifter out. Just fill it on level ground with the fill plug out. When it pours out the fill, stop and put the plug in. Your done.

filling

You can also remove the external and internal shifter boots and pour the fluid in from the top, it will drain right into the tranny. It is less messy and far easier than trying to pump fluid in from below. But you need someone watching underneath so that when you get enough fluid in and it starts to run out the upper fill hole, you can stop without making an even bigger mess...

I have always liked to fill it through the shifter base.

You may be able to fill it up without removing the shifter base, if you use a tube to snake it down below the shifter.
