ok i pulled my t5 today and while i was at it i have a horrible exhaust leak at the head i need to remedy. i kept changing gasket but there was old gasket still there i found out that caused leaks.

i took my headers off today and use a wire wheel on a diegrinder and wormed in there and cleaned the mating surfaces up they are super clean and ready to go again. i also touched up my header flange with scotch brite.

any more precautions i can take to get a SUPER SEAL? i am tired of changing header gaskets.

are mr gasket header gasket good. they are at the part store for 12$

Do yourself a favor, get some copper gaskets and locking stage 8 bolts if you feel the need.

Have the header flanges surface ground at a machine shop. Using the same type of setup as they use for resurfacing heads, they should be able to get all the header flanges parallel and flat.

yeah they are my bbks. the flanges are flat as can be. no problem there. there was just ALOT of old gasket on the head which made gaskets fail.

i bet if i put a nice gasket with a nice head and flange like i have it. it should be leak free! lets hope so.

I put on a set of used Flowtechs from Ebay with Stage 8 locking bolts and FelPro gaskets 4 years ago and haven't had a leak yet.

BBK shorties with copper here - No leaks for over a year. The hard part's over - cleaning those surfaces while in the car can be a bit... taxing.
