i cant compare track times of the mach b/c my dad has never ran it at the track. i have however ran against an 05 gt that was brand new at a track in kentucky and ran a good bit faster than him. i was running 13.7's @ 100-101 all night long with just exhaust and cai, he was running low 14's. i kept ragging on him really bad that he just couldnt drive b.c the car should be faster than that. i finally talked him into letting me take it down the track a few times, the best time i could get out of it was a 14.1. i was wanting one of these cars very very bad at the time and after seeing that and driving it i have been turned away from them. the countless ones i have outrun since hasnt helped my opinion on them either. this has just been my experience with them. i would consider myself a pretty decent driver and i couldnt get the car into the 13's to save my life.

Both had drag radials or just him? And driver can account for up to.7 seconds on any 13 second race - so none of this is arguable

my car even feels faster than the 05+GTs but that does not mean that it is faster. They just dont feel as torquey as my car but it pulls so much better than mine up top. Its hard to say but they really are the same stock for stock. ford underrated the 05 GTs at 300 hp and the mach only has 5hp more and 5 more torque. now if you ask me for having another cam and 8 more valves thats really not any better lol

the mach's are underrated from the factory in my opinion. bone stock my dad put down 270rwhp in 100 degree heat. given an estimated 15% loss thats around 320 flywheel hp at the crank. his car is bone stock and like i said this was in atleast 100degree heat.

Im pullin for the PI swapped SN95!!!

Im ready to race an 05+ asap...Ive actually been waiting for that race for a while but cant ever get an 05+ driver to bite since most of the S197 drivers out here are 45+ years of age.... I am fully confident that my Mach will not lose against one!!!!

i'm cheating w/ stage 1 cams, springs, full bolt on's and possibley LT's now. But im not too cocky - since a modded 05+ with a tune could lay down a good spanking while my car's almost at it's brim as far as NA mods go

Your not cheating at all imo...If anything, its an unfair race being that a stock 96-97 is rated at 215 hp @ the crank, & an 05+ is rated @ 300hp @ the crank. How is that fair?? & we all know about the NPI's shortcomings from the factory like the 215hp really being more like 195hp....Your cams & bolt ons are fair game IMO being that even with a PI swap, you are still down by 35 hp if you go stock for stock ratings.... n/a vs. n/a is all fair game imo.....

So your thinking about longtubes now???

thats what the 05s put down as well. but who knows find one with a good driver who is not like 50 years old and race him. the only one ive really seen around my area i wont even mess with on nitrous and neither will the 03/04 cobras lol. he is running something like a 6.8 at 109 lol turbo and nitrous will do it for ya though lol.

that 215 is only like 195 when you talk about rwhp. Therefore it's not really a lie since 260hp stangs puts down 225-230. Yes i'm thinking about LT's if i can make it pass smog, but i'll have to do it with cams which is damn hard. I think with LT's tho i'll hit some pretty decent numbers being these heads are actually pretty sweet.
Even w/out LT's i dont think i'll be too far off from that 260-270 area which is where auto 05+'s see - and my car is rated 3077lbs dry, so thats helps too.
Even with less power i see a cammed/bolt on PI'd sn95 trumping a 05+ in most cases, cuz a 300rwp 96 stang is pretty damn fast while a 300rwhp 08 GT feels like dodge charger So a 265rwhp early stang vs a 290-300rwhp 05+ shouldn't be that much of an issue. Maybe it's just me, but peak numbers arn't everything - a built car sees a nice looking power curve over most any relatively stock car.

Your new combo sounds pretty nasty & efficient. If your cams are smog legal u shouldnt have any problems passing smog with LT's as long as you run high flow cats... i am anxious to see the outcome of your car. When u expecting to have it done?

So what do the 05+ stangs ACTUALLY weigh, because I keep hearing different answers? By looking at them, they look alot bulkier & heavier than my Mach 1, & ALOT heavier than your 96...

At least it's more erect and not floppy anymore.

I hear the 05+ gt's weighs about a 100lbs more than the new edge gt's stock for stock (5-speed)

Well, my cams arn't smog leagl. I just CAN make them pass using my smog designed tune and since they arn't too crazy, so LT's might be pushing it since i'd be using two high flow cats instead of my 6-cat stocker.

As for S197 weight, it varies. From 3450/3469/then 3356 in 07' but when i'd weigh them at my old job for military/coast guard moves they weighed around 3720 w/out driver and most likely a near empty tank (they get payed to move their things by pound so they fill up after loading they stuff, lol) while my car weighed around 3290-3310 on the scale almost empty.
So that means my car was about 223 pounds over curb weight (with auto tranny)
and the S197 was around 270-280 pounds over curb with who knows what tranny

Of course this was about 2-3 cases that i observed, and who knows what they had in their trunk - but it was in their best interest to have nothing

(i might have had my spare tire out while weighing my car tho, i forget)

It's all good Dustin, he's proly assuming you never go to the track - like most s197 drivers.

What are you smoking? Beat the driver maybe, but to handle an '05-up GT (even an auto)with a compitent driver behind the wheel is going to take PI swap, bolt-ons and tune at least. PI swapped cars put down about 230rwhp with a tune. Still a good portion shy of the 260-265rwhp that the S197 are putting down.

I'm not saying that a head swapped pre-99 GT can't get the job done, but it's not nearly as strait forward or as effortless as you make it sound.
