How to make racing fuel. Smart ricer, or regular/dumb ricer?

I dont know if I beleive him about this. He drives an SRT-4 (Which would spank my car) but he dosent seem to know much about it other than it has Stage 3 everything. Whatever that is.

He said first you go to Sherwin-Williams. (heh) Get 3 gallons of Toulene. Its a type of paint thinner. Then you mix that with 9 gallons of premium gas, and a cap of ATF. He says that gives you like 100 octane.

Im not going to try this but you can. I know it wont really hurt anything cause people put toulene in their gas all the time and its a preven octane booster. The ATF is the thing that made me go "WTF?"

I wouldn't run it in my car...sounds pretty bad emissions wise. tell that fool to run E85 and get 106 octane...and pay less.

Yea that Toulene stuff is like $15 a gallon and like $9 with my employee discount.

Prolly not, The main reason I think hes a moron is RIGHT before he told me how to make the recing gas, he pointed at some crazy octane booster in a bottle and said that stuff woked "AWESOME"

I have a really nice write up on home made race gas. what you posted is one way to make it. The biggie seems to be how it effects the rest of the fuel system. Like seals and such. IIRC one way was to put some marvel myst. oil in the mix to help the drying from getting out of hand.

Don't know about the race gas...

but Marvel Mystery Oil FIXES EVERYTHING. It is the duct tape of engine fluids.

well with all the chemicals it would take.. I think it would take less money to just go up to a pump with racing gas... including money to put gas in the car to get the chemicals..

I wish we had those. But you also have to get bigger injectors, steel fuel lines, and get tuned for E85.

You can really skip the tuning step if you dont really want to get more power from it.

Like mentioned, if you do not have a flex fuel setup, it can damage your car.


And OT, it gives less MPG. The only real advantage, IMO, is that it is better for our environment.

it seems as though corrosion within the gas tank, fuel lines, piston rings is more of a 5yr+ problem...the majority of the problem comes in not having the gasonline/ethanol sensor to adjust timing dynamically.

Ethanol does burn easier so there is less mileage (about 15-20% I believe)...but ethanol futures for two years from now would be putting the price of E85 to about a dollar less a gallon than regular 87. I know if I was running a turbo and had access to E85 I'd be running it in a heartbeat...

It is better for the environment and at the same time supports american/canadian farmers instead of OPEC...that alone is a good reason to run it.

I may be biased though because I'm involved a plant that's opening in a year and a half

From what Ive heard, the cost of it makes it still cheaper in the long run even though you burn more.

i'm all about that stuff....and hell we got 90% steel gas lines anyway.......only a few feet of rubber.

I woudl probably have to get like 60lb injectors though!....!!
