How will the '05 handle?

Is it too early to tell? I'm sure we'll have to wait for a few road and track tests to see how it will handle... But does anyone have an idea? Will it be leaps and bounds over the handling of the current mustangs? I know current mustangs have used the same chassis for the past 20 years. I'm trying to decide if I should keep my stang and invest money into the handling, or just wait until I can afford an '05... I just don't wanna dump tons of money into my stang if in a couple years I'll regret all the money I spent.

The factory panhard bar should help a bit plus the chasis is reportedly much stiffer. I would say that handling will be better than previous models but how much better is up in the air until they are released.

It will definatly handle better then 99+ GT's. They have 3 link rear and true strut suspension on front. I'm thinking it should handle much like late F-bodys. that alone is better than our car. Plus stiffer chasis, better weight ratio, yada yada yada...

I still don't like its rear tho...

This is like asking "what's my firstborn child going to look like?"

Just know this: It'll be better. Better than Fox's, SN-95's, F-bodies, but I doubt it will come anywhere close to holding the road like a Z06 or even a BMW M3.

You can't polish a turd like a live-axle in terms of handling. Well, you can incrementally improve it by decoupling axial and longitudinal forces by moving away from the previous Bind-O-Flex™ setup like they did by using the single upper arm and panhard bar but you still have a direct coupling of the two tire-patches and you therefore still have the upset in one that will occur when the other hits an obstacle and the whole axle housing moves.

I think it'll be yards-, not miles-better than the previous car. I'd hope, for instance, that manhole covers sunk 2" below grade don't cause the 05s to jump sideways like my 02 does, as the control arms feed forces at all sorts of goofy angles into the chassis. However, I bet that the 05 still gets jittery going around less-than-glass-smooth on and off ramps.

Fully independent out back as you might expect on cars of that calibre.

you wonder why they cost so much more than a mustang?

BMW is a road car, that is their philosophy and has always been. they design cars that will handle extremely well. also they design their engines to get the max hp and still stay reliable, hence they don't turbo their cars from the factory
