Just curious.

hard to tell, but look at the bottom of the pic.

here is another, but still hard to see how the end loops all the way, instead of only going halfway, like normal plugs.

Hey BigCat

What is the difference between the Autolite HT1, and the Motorcraft SP462 plugs?

Let me rephrase. What advantage do these plugs have over stock?

I saw them on Rockauto's web site. I assume they're the Motorcraft plug that came in the 3V engine. They had both the Motorcraft and the Autolite plugs.

i did a little searching, and according to one vendor, they are the exact same plug as the HT1, but have a different gap. the Autolite HT1's are at .045 and the SP462 are at .054.

Based on this information, I'd go with the HT1's. My '06 owners manual calls for a gap of .040"-.050". You the man Cat!

i believe that the reason the motorcraft plugs are gapped at .054" is so that they can be used in differnt applications, such as the 5.4 3V in F150s. i am only speculating here, but it would make financial sense for ford to do this.

there is no tool to open the gap on these plugs. there are, however, tools to narrow the gap. so if anyone gets the SP462s, then they can adjust the gap if needed.
