D my friend, maybe someone else should have done some research before "ASSuming" I didn't know what I was talking about. They are not cheap and cannot be recycled.

Nice article, but full of assumptions. EVERYTHING can be recycled. And I guess I'd better quit carrying nickles in my pocket, after reading that the author stated that Nickle is toxic And Toyota stocks more than one replacement battery in the whole U.S. The wife's battery has already been replaced at no cost by Toyota, and I'm quite sure her's wasn't the only one done.

hhahahhahah o man its soo true... but i seriously would love to see a diesel stang someday in the near future, i mean just think of how practical that is. i mean with that kinda low end torque you know how fast you could get off the line? jeeeze i mean i dont really know much about mods on a non gasoline engine but if you just pushed the hp up by about 50rwhp that would make the stang one sick car. and to think, it would all be below like 3000 rpms.. that would be really interesting to drive, just my opinion tho

After having driven a mid-size eurpoean 4-cyl diesel (it was probably turbo, I forgot to check) for the last week, I can easily see a European-style 6-cyl turbo diesel getting good performance and gas mileage. Oh yeah, and the Europeans have the whole pingy-diesel noise problem solved, it seems.

I was thinking about it and truck engines are tuned for durability under the amount of weight they have to move. Since the stang weighs close to 1,500lbs less they could really tune the motor up. Tuners for the trucks go up to 230 RWHP, but it can't be used for towing or hauling. Since the stang isn't designed to do any towing or major hauling it could be run at that setting all the time. So figure 325hp plus another 230hp is 550-580 crank hp for only $400, then you can add propane injection for over 625hp for only $650

In short 325hp diesel car plus $1,000 equels 625hp car with even greater torque, all at under 4,000rpm. It would be unstopable.

(Then imagine what you could do with changing the intake, exaust, turbo, ect )

I would so buy one!

I dunno if it would look very nice since the whole back end of the car would be covered in black soot from a diesel like that

The back of the car wouldn't, but the guy trying to race you would get a nice black smoke screen when you take off. Even stock, where the exaust wouldn't be bad at all, it would still blow most cars away.

I would really like to see a Mustang Hybrid.

But one designed along the lines of what Lexis is doing with their hybrid.

Have a Mustang that normally runs around using a, say, 150HP gas engine. But when you slam the pedal to the floor, an electric motor kicks in and adds another 200HP and 800 lb-ft of torque to the mix for a true "snap-your-head-back" launch.

40MPG with 0-60 under 3 seconds can't be a bad mix?

Eh, I would rather have the diesel. It would be easier to mod and work on, get the same mileage, and there would be no worrying about batteries or electric motors that will have to be replaced.
