Am in the process of selling my 65 fastback, ready to start another project. What is the best way to handle the sale? One of our local club members had her car stolen when she was handed a fake cashier's check. Looked ok at the bank but it had been "washed". It was purchased for a thousand bucks and they altered the amount. Would insurance cover you under this circumstance or is it just tough luck? So much fraud going on today just don't know who to trust.

Thanks, Mike

insist on cash only when you sell the car, no checks of any kind. or if they want to use a check, then meet them at their bank, and do the transaction there. that way if the check is no good, their bank can tell you right then, and you can also cash the check right then as well.

See if you can arrange to use a credit card through PayPal like I did.
