If he actually makes that much power he can definitely run high 11s but i don't see him going low 11s with 324hp at the wheels unless his car weighs 2000 pounds.

You're not making 324rwhp on pump gas (or even race gas) with little more than an aftermarket carb/intake......I don't care what transmission you're backing it all with. As the matter of fact, you wouldn't even see those power figures on an engine dyno with no drivetrain loss at all.

Swapping out to a carb and and intake has been known to add a few horsepower on the top end over EFI on occasion, but not 150hp+ at the crank....no way!!!!

Like the others stated unless you come back with a list of motor mods he has done to support it. most of us have been on the boards long enough to know what it takes to get these motors to push out those #'s at the wheels.

Why is everybody assuming he has stock heads? Those power numbers are more than reasonable for a well planned out 302/306, especially if he actually built the engine to rev past 5500 rpm.

As far as the ETs go, yea, that might be a stretch. Who knows, he did say the car is "gutted".

I get the impression from John that the guy is saying it's a stock 302 with a different carb and suspension, that's it.

No one ever said it was stock, it has to have heads at least for those numbers.

If he was going to lie in the first place, I would hope he would be smart enough to "have" more horsepower than that.

I call until we see futher mods though. The car has to be completely gutted too.

I think its very possible, an auto with a high stall can do some weird things on a dyno..You said it is mostly gutted and has full suspension...I don't see what is so hard to believe here??

Well, when he stated the guy’s original list of mods, heads weren't mentioned. So, based on the info listed.....yes, we were led to believe it was a stock long block with little more than a carb swap. In which case those horsepower and quarter mile time would have been bunk.

Guy claims to make 324/300 at the wheels 36* timming pump gas and carb, in a fox hatch mostly gutted auto trans no brake 3.73 gears.Runs 11.4 and a 11.20. Full front and rear syspension is done! I call B.S big time on those numbers! Oh yeah 8" micky thompsons D/R's and front skinnies. peace

Did you not think it might have been relevant to mention the fact that he was running a 9.5:1 357ci and not a stock 9.0:1 302ci....or AFR 185's and not stock Iron castings when you initially laid out his list of mods.

Knowing what we do now, 324rwhp/300rwtq and 11-second ET's in a stripped car is actually quite feasible. As a matter of fact, I'm actually inclined to believe he's down a little or the torque side.
