I am getting ready to get my gears.

3.73 or 4.10

I cant decide. i drive the freeway everyday and i do alot of autocross track days with my friends. i want the goodness of 4.10's but will it be way too much for the freeway.

HELP!!!!

3000 rpm with 4.10 is 83 mph with stock rubber.

2700rpm with 3.73 is 83mph, 3000rpm is 92mph

car runs pretty smooth at 3000rpm. just drive in 4th@71mph. that should be 3000rpm stock.

I personally don't roll much over 80 on the interstate due to my crappy driving record so I would go 4.10's.

4.10's will make 5th gear much more usable and you will still have a 167mph top speed with stock limiter.

now if you ever plan on boosting your car past 7psi or so I would probably run 3.73.

j/k.....go with the 4.10s. i had 3.73s on my 97 GT and regretted not going w/ 4.10s

All I can say is, I have the same year you do and I would never trade my 4:10s for 3:73.

I do highway driving to and from work everyday

If you can't decide go with the 4.10's. One thing to consider if you change the gear you will be out of the stock class or street prepared class for the Autocrossing.

I drive the freeway too, 84 mi. each day round trip, with 4.10s, and still get 21 mpg with some mixed city driving and romping on it a little. Don't fear the gear.

I agree. Go 4.10. I have an auto so it's a little different, but I have 4.10. My only complaint is the transmission doesn't really "agree" with the 4.10s as well as it did the stock 3.27s. If I had a manual, no doubt I would use 4.10.

4.30 for autos is an even better choice.

Yup, 4.10's here. Not quite right NA for the 1/4 *(have to shift near the end line), but perfect centri-blown IMO. I get @ 18 mpg now. Around 2800 at 80 mph.

And lots of fun on the street.

well i dont do autocross competition, just for fun.

So will i be ok if i use 4.10's with a 100 shot of Nitrous?

if you are undecided like me make a choice in the middle...3.90s i love them and i kept the same mpg

Since you have a 98 GT, you don't have the upper rpms of play that the 99+ GT's have with the PI cylinder head and cam setup. So, as to whether or not you'll be ok, it all depends. If you're looking to cross the finish line in 4th gear, probably not. Not unless if you run a taller tire like a 28in slick on the rear.
