This is on the door in the doorjam. My guess is its just something that was put on after painting, but it says if you remove it that it will damage the paint? Like a security strip. There are a few on the doors and I think 1 or 2 on the decklid as well. I know my last 6er didn't have them.. Is this from someone else painting the car?

It's a backup system that can be seen under UV light. I've seen it before. If somebody jacks your car, and removes the visible vin numbers, this is a backup and can be seen.

So is it on every car or is it a small security feature the previous owner put on the car?

Somebody put it on there that previously owned the car. I haven't heard of dealers doing it, but they might if they are in business with the company.

Yeah, it marks all of the Major panels of the car with the VIN, so if someone steals it, they can prove that the parts came off of your car. My truck came with it.
