OK Guys

I just gotta get this off my chest
AND
I'm only speaking in general terms here so this thread is not directed at anyone in particular.

If someone wants me to help them about something technical

Here is how I process their Questions
OR
My first reaction to what I see in their post.

Most of the time, I don't even get through their entire post without glancing down to their sig to get acclimated with their combo.

Gonna get to the point ... RIGHT NOW! ... No Sig ... No Help!

It just kinda makes me mad ... I guess frustrated is the better word here!

I really do like to help peeps on our forum
BUT
With no sig and a lot of the time, not enough info in the post

Whats a man supposed to do?

I know you guys know what I'm talkin about here. Sometime its like they think your some kind of mind reader OR you remember every little detail about their combo.

As for the sig ... I really don't care if one has got a 50 dollar shifter ball or billet Aluminum door lock knobs .......... but .................. Come On

A sig with the main parts of the combo would be nice.
Forget nice ...................... it needs to be there!

One more thing that I wanna bring up along these lines.

If I am trying to help you ........................

Don't make me go to some other site to see your combo
It just ain't gonna happen with me!

Its great you got a site .... Heck .... I got a site too
BUT
I wanna go take a look at your site because I choose to
NOT
Because you make me go there for the info I need to even get started in my attempt to help you.

I'm gettin down off my soap box now!

Any of you other guys ever felt this way ???

I totally agree with you Grady. I removed my sig. because I'm not needing alot of help .... but in the case that I do .... I let my mods be known. I just don't see how some people can "assume" everyone knows what they have.

i know what you mean, grady. how can you help someone w/ technical issues w/out knowing what's under the hood?

(i, on the other hand have a stock everything under my hood, unfortunately--hence when all the mods listed in my sig are cosmetic... maybe those of us w/ stock everything should also include that!) *edits sig

Grady, your help is always appreciated and so is the other Stanger's. I am fairly new and I have noticed the age old response........."What's your mods?"
Just my take.

I really didn't think I'd make anyone mad or too upset with that stuff so I just went ahead and got it out there.

BUT

It really is the same for ALL of us.

We do wanna help peeps but we shouldn't have to jump through hoops or anything like that to do it.

I most likely take all this stuff too seriously.

anyway

I just felt it needed to be said.

I agree whole heartedly with you Grady. I have removed my combo from my sig, but it was only done because I had other things I wished to put there, and most know my combo somehow. I guess when I re-do my car here shortly I'll have to go back to listing it again since it will more than likely change.

Grady, my friend just bought this 94 GT with some mods done.

Are his injectors big enough?

I hear ya Grady - we ask people a couple times a day what their combo is. We all know the threads where someone posts an issue and we go from that (assuming the car to be stock, by omission of any mods listed), only to find that the guy is running a blown 408 (we find out on post 20. My reply is normally 'Gee, that was need-to-know info.').

Going one step further, if someone's car is having an issue, or the CEL is on, please pull the codes before posting. Otherwise, the first reply (from me, for sure) is 'what code(s) is it spewing?'

Being on dial-up, unfortunately I dont see many of your guys' pages. And I also wont wait for 10 mins for the page to load so I can see mods.
Not that anyone probably cares if we dont want to read their webpage, but I have wondered if some thread-starters simply dont realize that readers might not want to sift through 10 cardomain pages to gleam insight into a stranger's car.

Anyhoo, I agree all the way, oh wise one!

In addition to this: PULL THE DAMN CODES PLEASE!

It's disheartening when peeps ask for help and haven't even bothered to run the simplest of all trouble shooting methods. A code scanner should be in your toolbox right next to your wrenches in my opinion.

I can't tell you the number of times I've read, "Got a CE light, don't know why, just did this... etc etc" I'm not asking for much, just a 2 minute diagnostic of your car. Even though the OBDI system is pretty basic compared to OBDII, a lot of peeps on here can tell a lot about a problem from a thrown code.

Not that I have a ton to offer, I don't, but I try to give it my best shot. I'll end it with an Audrey Hepburn quote that is a fav of mine:

Remember, if you ever need a helping hand, it's at the end of your arm, as you get older, remember you have another hand: The first is to help yourself, the second is to help others. - Audrey Hepburn

:OT: :OT: :OT:

LOL! Sorry, I had to do it Grady!

To answer your question, more than likely the answer is no. That's not to say the car won't be capable of it, but it is due to the fact that I lack a legal bar and most of the tracks I run at have made it very clear that I'll be asked to leave the second I run under a 13.49. I have plans to install a legal bar, but the project I have planned will not allow for any additional parts this year like a roll bar. I have a few tricks up my sleeve for the roll bar when that time comes as it will look as good as it functions.
