"Can I help you?"

"I need a water pump...2001 Mustang GT 4.6L."

"HMM...they don't make a 4.6L for a 2001 Mustang. It is a 4.3L"

That is what the guy told me. I nicely explained to him that all 96-present Mustangs use a 4.6L 8 cylinder. He told me that I am giving him the wrong year, and the wrong engine size. It took everything I had to keep my cool the way he said this to me. He then brings over the manager....he looks at it....tells me the same thing....so he has the guy look up 99, 2002, 2000....etc......all 4.3L Mustangs. I tell him, just give me the pump, I will look at it and tell you if it is correct or not. Sure enough after 2 of them....they are wrong...so I told him I am going to Murrays.

I swear, this Autozone by my work are the biggest bunch of morons. This is one of many times that I have left there because of inferior help. I only went there because the regular shop I go to..(little business...always have stuff in stock and they have two counter guys that have worked there for 30+ years so they know there stuff) is closed on Sundays...so little to say Murrays didn't stock it, and I got the pump today from my normal guys...

Autozone...................

4.3 ....

They were looking at something wrong on the computer and are too stupid to use common sense to help you. That's the bottom line. After you get un-pissed, you will see that it's actually pretty funny. (and sad)

That's crazy. I'm guessing the computer wasn't the problem, just the brains on the parts guy and his manager lol. They must've typed in the wrong year, model, or something... Or maybe it was a glitch.

I love that new Autozone commercial advertizing their new computer program that will help you out and print instructions.

I love places like Autozone because idiots like them is what keep me working fixing their bs.

I used to work for Autozone on Wayne road in Westland, and I had my own customer base. I know the types of idiots that they typically hire, and they would ALWAYS be sending irate customers to me to figure out their problems. They even called me the 'parking lot mechanic' because I did a hell of alot more than batteries and wipers. I once helped a guy do head gaskets on a GMC 1500 4.3 in the rain. he gave me $100. When I quit there, alot of people stopped shopping there. I now work for Murray's coincidentally enough, but I work at the distribution center.

I do know of the problems that Autozone's new computer system has, and they are supposed to report misinformation, but they never do. For the longest time, they had 89-93 Tempos having a 0 cylinder rotary. It would come up alot.

If you want to have fun, go ask someone at AZ how many spark plugs your 93 F-250 7.3l has, or try to order a piston for an 87 Mazda RX7 1.3l.

when i did Ford parts, we had all kinds come in. o and yes when people said they had a mustang GT or Cobra i always verified the engine size. i know thats a huge complaint of people on here, but you had no idea how many people say they have a cobra and they really have a v6.

I still cant figure out what GM product sounds close enough to a Mustang for him to pull up a GM motor "Can I get a water pump for a Mustang?" and he types in B-L-A-Z-E-R?
