I have a dream

First the pole would have to be conducted somewhere other than here
second, a smaller version would have to be made so those without an imagination cold actually see the smaller version of the S197.
I don't believe the I don't care people would be taking the pole anyway.
Opinions are like -------, every one has one, I would like it smaller, some like it like it is, some don't care, I have no problem with any of these opinions, after all, what is said on Stangnet, by stangnet members will go nowhere and have zero influence with Ford on anything. Like a drop in the wind so we are just talking to each other about nothing.

Just like all the rest of the threads here, They and I wanted to discuss a subject.
Hostile attitude is rarely exhibited to most thread starters, so I felt safe in voicing my opinion. I guess that having an opinion that is counter to 3 or 4 on this site is somehow a bad thing and must be shot down. Well I could care less about anyone else's opinion, I was just bringing up a subject. I would like to see a smaller mustang even if the entire Galaxy doesn't.
The fact that what is said here is of very little importance or even minute significance to Ford, Is just that, a fact, and why a subject is brought up is of little importance.

You brought up a subject and several of us have different opinions. I don't really see the problem.

All I really want in a mustang is a RWD Front engine car that is as good a corner carver as you can get for the money, beyond that I don't really care. Since this is by far the best mustang to fit that bill ever, I couldn't be happier.

Ok, speaking of which. The new Hyundai Genesis coupe (Front engine RWD coupe, supposedly targeting the mustang market) is bigger than the mustang. Well kind of. Wheel base of 111", but an overall length of 182". Supposedly they're eventually going to put a V8 in it.

Well, while that was fairly well said, the reason I asked was because I was provoked by the comment you made. I'm new to this site, as well, but I have seen you being a bit abrasive with other members, so I assumed this was another way for you to piss people off. I apologize; this is the Mustang Talk section, and this is Mustang talk.

With that said, if you like small Mustangs, you can always get a fox-body. I don't have a problem with the size of S197's so much as its weight. I think a lighter Mustang would be more beneficial than a smaller Mustang. I think the "larger" look of it goes with the retro-look that Ford was trying to achieve with this platform, and it is the first Mustang that cuaght my attention since 1993. I've owned 9 fox-bodies, and until this body style was introduced in late '04, I had no interest in the newer Mustangs. To me: There is nothing like a fox, but this BY FAR the best Mustang Ford has ever produced.

"the reason I asked was because I was provoked by the comment you made"

What comment was that?

" I have seen you being a bit abrasive with other members, so I assumed this was another way for you to piss people off"

I don't get abrasive with anyone unless they are abrasive with me first, Then Yes I will, all you have to do is talk to me normal, That is really not asking a lot.

Now the subject, If you will read the thread, I said that I Like the S197 looks just make it smaller like the Fox size, not bring back the Fox.

I could care less if it is could or couldn't.

I don't want a Fox retro, I want the S197 to be the fox size.

What about track width? The new mustang is 6 inches wider than the fox, does that bother you? Also, since you never really answered my quesion, is it wheelbase you care about or overall length? Would you mind if the car was 170" long but with 110" wheelbase?
Dan

I wouldn't mind if they chopped a couple inches off, front and back. taking four inches total out of the body would reduce weight too. Visually, the Mustang is a big, tall car. Put it next to a supra and it looks like a tank. The new 2010 did a little to tweak the effect, by making the front area smaller, and to tweak the look of the tail lights.

A hatchback would be nice, except that having the package tray (behind the rear seats) makes the structure stiffer, and blocks road noise from the trunk. Still, a hatchback with a strut tower bar (hmm... upper-body bar, with our struts in the floor?) would still be better I think.

I'm not sure how a shorter one with the same wheelbase would look.
But, I guess if you made it smaller, then it should be ok. To go back to what I first said , Keep the body style, but fit it to a Fox , I also guess that width would change as well.
