I have to park uphill... help!

I have a 99 Mustang V6, and I have a wether annoying problem: my reverse doesn't work!

It works okay like in the morning when it's been sitting all night I just start it up and I back out of the drive fine, but when I'm running around doing errands, when I try to back out of a parking space the reverse takes sometimes up to 10 minutes before it goes.

Drive and everything else works perfectly fine, I never drop gears... any ideas? Much appreciated.

I assume it's an automatic?

Maybe the reverse gear is gummed up. Try adding a shift improving tranny additive, and if that doesn't work, try finding a shop that has the machine that flushes your tranny with solvent. That should completely clean all of the little passages and valves that may be sticking, and as long as no parts are actually broken, the tranny should work fine again.
