I just bought a '86 GT of ebay and Im pretty excited about it. I had an '83 stang for a few months and it barely ran so I would consider this my first real fox. Im hoping to pick it up on Saturday, and I think the first order of business would be to throw on a '93 cobra upper and lower and a 70MM TB

Heres the link to the auction

Tell me what you think about it...

I would do a compression test on it before you start modding it.. just my 2 hundredths of a penny.

Man thats sweet! and a hell of a deal. He already did the hard part, switched from s/d to mass air, and changed the e6 heads to e7. That is awsome!

Won't be too awesome if he didn't also change the pistons since they don't have any valve reliefs....i'd watch piston to valve clearance on that engine...

yeah dude i would be careful, best bet would be to go get a 88 to 91 motor with lower miles and sling it in there, better yet find a whole wrecked car and upgrade the interior to 87 and up specs looks much better imho, but it looks like the stance is good and the body is straight, clean that baby till your arms fall off and show us the results, ohh and welcome to the crazy world of :SNSign:

I wouldnt trust him saying he put thoose heads or cam in it. Just about every mustang you look at they say E-cam and ported heads. Id just buy a low mileage long block out of a 87+

LOL you guys are starting to make me think that this motor is no good...I mean it has only 15,000 miles on it give or take a few, he says he has most of the receipts, he says he ran low 14's on it without slicks or a power adder (why would I have a reason to think otherwise?)...he did mention forged pistons so maybe he was smart enough to put the pistons with valve reliefs in when it was rebuilt.

Well anyways, I sold my firebird for over $4000 so Ill have some money to fix anything that needs fixing. And Ill be sure to clean it up and get more detailed pics when I get it

Like said most of what he said has been claimed time and time again by people who bought cars off ebay or whoever and when it came to tearing it down engines none of the cleims were true. I hope the best for you but this story has been told a million times.

I'm not trying to say the engine is junk, i'm just throwing out my thoughts as they come, as per what i would be thinking if i bought the car. The next thing to come to mind is that if he did swap the pistons, did he know what he was doing when he put the rings on? With not a whole lot of miles on the engine, there could be a problem with the rings that hasn't shown itself yet.

Again....this is just random thoughts, your best bet might be to pull a head off and see.

Oh and Kerry King kicks ass LOL.
