Seriously.
Everybody here strives to keep the the top of the car clean and shiny. (and we see pics of everybody's shiny top side)
Most of us strive to keep the interior clean ( and again we get to see everybody's clean interior)
Alot of us strive to keep the engine compartment clean. (again more pics in evidence)
I get all of that.
But here is what I don't get:
How can you go out, and buy hundreds (if not thousands) of dollars worth of new stuff for the underside/suspension, and bolt new pieces that are powder coated, plated, or anodized onto rusted, filthy components? I realize that a large contingent here uses the car as a DD, but a pressure washer doesn't care whether it's a DD or a show car.
Seems to me, If I'm gonna spend 1000+ dollars on new struts, coil over kit, tubular C/A's s, and a k member, AT THE VERY LEAST I would've spent an extra 5.00 at the car wash first, and if I actually gave a rats' red ass about it looking any better than that, spent another whole 10 dollars for a couple of rattle cans to make some of the rusted parts look new again.
The justification for me isn't because I want the area nobody ever sees to be all shiny and purty, I don't want to have to handle the filthy parts that could've been clean for the sake of a half hour spent at the car wash first.
BUT,...Just think of the money a mfg would save, ( and pass it along to the end user) if they just left their product raw, and unfinished. (because it's just gonna get all dirty and rusty anyway right ?)
Now I'm not singling ANYBODY out here, cause you see it all the time. But if you are the banner waver for new stuff bolted onto dirty components, I'm sure you'll put me in my place.
