Tommorrow I will be going to Heartland Park Topeka to race heads up in a VAMP series thing. This is the first time I have been out to the track with this car and I only get about 3 times to get it ready. The track will be treated, which is the reason I am doing this, so I can get some good times for once.

My question is, what can I do to run consistent with a standard? and is there any secrets to doing good in a bracket race? I have never done it, but I have seen it alot.... im not really familar with all this so can somebody help?

If you're running street tires, DON'T do a burnout, just spin them a little to get the crap off. If you want consistency, and you know a good launch point, just stick with it. But since you said this is your first time out, don't expect to be very consistent at all.

With bracket racing, you're supposed to set your dial-in, which is the time you think you're going to run (example: 14.5 @ 95mph or whatever). You want to get as close to that time as possible without running faster. If you run faster than your dial-in (breakout) you're DQ'ed. If you run within your time, it whoever gets to the end of the track first wins. Bracket racing is not a good idea for beginners, seems how they usually don't know what their car is gonna run, and aren't very consistent. I stay away from bracket racing, cus I'm not consistent at all, and I just like to race for fun anyway. Good luck man, and have fun.

EDIT: Oh yea, and for consistency with a standard, shift at the same point every time, and don't miss a gear, lol.

I have missed that gear about 7 times.

What is a pro .400 tree? Is that the fast one?

If you have your motor running good just make sure you have a good clutch and some sticky tires. With practice you will get consitant times. Also keep a log book with all your slips and see how you progress with practice.
