I have this C&L 80mm Mass Air Meter housing that I got like a year ago for my 1996 GT. It has the blue tube which, according to C&L, means it is calibrated for the stock (19lb) injectors.

So I had this great idea to try installing it in my 1995; it happens to fit fine and the electronics bolt up to it just like it was made for the 1995. but ... obviously noone has a maf transfer function for it, since it was made for the 1996 (EEC-V) and I am putting it on a 1995 (EEC-IV). Damn that K&N filter is big ...

Well, I installed it today during lunchtime, and sure enough, my car runs like crap with the stock maf function. Not surprised. Actually I was surprised it ran at all - in OL it seemed sort of OK, but after it warmed up and CL kicked in, I could barely keep it running. I read in the CNL80MM transfer function (that came with TwEECer v1.30A9) into my calibration and I am going to reset the computer and put in the new function before trying to go home after work.

---

After work, I put in the CNL80MM transfer function, and the car started out OK. About 5 minutes into my drive home, I came up on a traffic jam and as I was decelerating, the car died. I was able to get it started again but I had to almost floor it to keep it running. Then mysteriously, it was OK again. I was datalogging and I noticed that the KAMRFs were not moving and the LAMBSE values were stuck at 18.30, so I figured that I was running way too rich.

After I got off the highway, I pulled over and leaned out my MAF about 40% across the board. It seemed much better, but now it was going off scale low (lean), so I richened it up again. I am now at a max reading of 1722 kg/hr, and my KAMRFs and LAMBSEs are both moving again. So I guess I am getting closer to where I should be.

Next thing to try: take the "CNL 73mm 55mm electronics" function and "Richen" it by 9.59% (80/73=1.09589). This gives a function very similar to what I ended up with (top kg/hr=1738.5)

The throttle response seems much better so far, but I have been afraid to really step on it.

I can't decide if this whole endeavor shows my bravery or foolishness ...
