I need some help. I ran the codes about a week ago and came up with 94 and 44 which i was told were vacuum leaks. I also believe it is a vacuum leak because i have a high idle (1000) and it surges a little. When i open my driver door i can hear a sucking sound and i looked at the vacuum tree. I need to now where the tube thats labeled s/c goes. I see that it goes into the fender, but then i looked under the car and i dont see anything. What should i do to check for vaccum leaks? use water or some oil on the tubes? also would a vacuum leak affect gas mileage? thanks.

44 and 94 are both Secondary Air System Inoperative, which just means the smog pump isn't there or isn't working.

The way I check for vaccume leaks is the wiggle the lines and usually the hissing will change tone or intensity. You can also try spraying brake clean on the lines or even water and see where it stopps hissing. A listening device also helps.

Try cleaning the throttle body and the IAC on the side of the throttle body. If that doesn't fix it, check to be sure that the TPS signal voltage is .99volts with the key on engine off. If that does not fix the high idle, seek profesional help.

a stockish motor should pull around 15-20" hg at idle.

A leak can cause a high idle, an idle that is slow to return to its base idle (it hangs), unmetered air, etc.

Good luck.
