i need some examples on why.....

i got in my car yesterday and was going to the store i noticed it started to surge alittle....not to bad, but i did notice it.....i drove about 2 miles and got to a red light and it started to surge really bad and died ...i can't figure it out.....i'm thinking when i found my pvc was unplugged, maybe another hose came undone...but won't find out until i start to take the motor down to install the cam...i'm going to install a new water pump(its squeking when my car is running so i think the bearing are out) and new hoses under my intake....jimmy
