two questions here

today i went to go home put the seat belt on and the button on the buckle spring broke. called ford thinking hey a seat belt is a seat belt they should still make those. well the part number for the svo is obsolete. Will any seat belt buckle work up to 93 or before airbags? i was thinking junkyard but for saftey reasons cant really rationalize that.

second smog question

I just got a new cat. and a bunch of exhaust leaks patched (sounds much nicer) runs much better old one was melted after two years. So my buddy i know has a smog lic. so he pretested the car (previous issues not passing smog HCO's too high.i got a nice gross polluter on my hands now WOOT!) I got it down to 133ppm max 138ppm. Any other ideas to bring it down more? Or just run it really hard for a while before i go smog basic tune up stuff. I turned the boost down to 14psi and dropped the timming back 10` btdc likes it is supposed to, when i pre-tested it so. Every thing passed the way as is but i have to test only. I need to have the boost solenoid plugged in (Which does not work and leaks horribly), I'm running my manual boost valve right now.

question 2a)
I read my vaccum anywhere between 11lbs-15lbs it floats and i havnt seen 18-20lbs of vaccum for some time now. No obvious leaks that i can see. would this also be causing my problem?

Any ideas to my problem?

ohh btw this is for my black 86svo with mods below not the 84 that thank my well you know, was smogged with no problem with the title transfer so worries really quick with that

I wouldn't sweat the junkyard seatbelt thing. Get it out of a car that's been closed up though. I'd worry about sun faded or constantly wet webbing. Then you may have a safety issue. I've pulled seatbelts out of 60's era cars and used them again with no trouble (no accidents either though). Back in the day, the top of a Ford buckle could be popped out and the spring, button and clasp replaced. I haven't paid close enough attention to the late model stuff to know if or how it can be done now.

I can't help you on the smog stuff. We don't do emissions testing in central FL.

thanks bud i'll head up there and check i wasnt really looking forward dropping 75 bucks anyway.

as for you and your non smog its because of all the hurricanes and tropical storm they blow all that crap away so the people in cube deal with it all lol j/k

We used to be able to say things like that with the hurricanes. "Oh those usually just run through Miami and such. Not so bad up here." Not anymore. :)

Oh well. Such is life living on a peninsula that's only a couple of feet higher than the levees in New Orleans :)
