my car is being torn apart now cuz i blew a head gasket so i am trying to figure out what to do cuz i feel that it would be easier to upgrade the engine now then tearing it apart again.
i have a few ideas on what i want to do but i dont know which route to go

i either want a 331/347 stroker cuz i really like torque at a good usable RPM
or i want to just leave it the good old 302 and build a strong NA or blower engine i like this idea cuz it is cheaper but could i get a good low end and still have it pull to the redline?

would it be bad to put on AFR 185's on for a year as i wait for some money for a stroker?

What power levers would i expect with a strongly built 302 NA?

I know thats alot but i want to know stuff about these the options i could take

thanks for your help

Sorry no responses. I've never had stroked motor, bt I don't see why 185s wouldn't be enough to feed a 331 or 347 because it's an N/A motor after all. I could be wrong though. You already have the heads? If not, then wait to see the path you reall want and can really afford and go with it. I'd want 205 heads with a blown 347 but that could get expensive and then your looking and needing a STRONG block because strokers and blown applications obviously create more friction, pressure and heat. So choose wisely.

I am taking it you have a pretty much stock motor with exaust.

What is your budget?

This is going to cost a lot if you really want to go all out. Building up the stroker bottom end with the stock intake and heads is going to give more torque down low, but not much up top or even midrange at all. Is the shortblock bad? If not rebuilding it would be a waste of money. A set of AFR or TFS heads and a good intake would be a good idea, and a TB and MAF if you can afford it. This would wake it up quite a bit.
