I need to limp to the parts store and back home so I can replace the rear brake caliper. The caliper piston is broken off.

This is one of those questions that most wouldn't touch with a 10 foot pole.

The REAL answer is to collect your parts using alternate transportation then get it fixed.

You should never drive around with the brake lines lines capped and the caliper ports plugged... Regardless of the short distance you think you need to go.

Vice Grips work...

That's what the guy who rear-ended my Mercedes last week use to disable his rear brakes. Considering he had no insurance either...no wonder.

Sorry...been nursing a sore neck all week and very aggrivated over the situation.

He disabled his brakes by squeezing the lines with vice grips?

Yeah. The hard lines. He pinched them off with vice grips and then zip tied the grip closed. I thought he was joking.

Well at least he didn't crimp them and walk away.

He knew at least that the vice grips had to stay on.
