Im changing to x2 ball joints and have called and visited local shops to find out how much they would charge to replace my ball joints and its not $20-$30 like people have said on here. A local mechanics shop wanted $100 and a machine shop I just called wanted $190 :fuss: they must be out of their mind. So were can I find a loner press or rent one from to do it myself a friend of mine got a loner from napa to do his up in pa but im in north virginia and napa here doesnt have it, also what is the press called; so when im calling around I dont sound like an idiot, any info would be helpful because right now my cars sitting on jack stands without front control arms, and I dont have any other transportation. :nonono:

This press is a entry level kinda set...its 30" tall x 2 wide or so...We bought it used at one of those swap for cash places for 150.00 new....
You can adjust the middle up and down with the bolts and it has a "bottlejack" type of hydraulic press up top....This is what you need to remove and prees em...I use it for pinion bearings and such...
Not the greatest pic but you get the idea..

You can get a ball joint pressing tool loaned to you from Autozone (it might be very similar to what Urban mentioned). it is a large HD C-clamp with some adapters. It works very well (I bought one since it works on U-joints, etc).

Good luck.
