i did some wire hiding this last weekend and when i tried to crank the car it just kept cranking and wouldnt stop so i had to disconnect the battery to make it stop. Now the fuel pump wont prime and the car wont even crank. im not even getting power to my starter relay from my ign switch. i tested the 2 yellow wires on the ign switch and those arent getting power either.
i bench tested my starter relay also and it was fried. my headlights/doorlocks and interior lights do work though. Im afraid that i may have hooked power to both the power and ground side of the 6al box :nonono: my question is....

how do i test that my ecu is working?

how do i test that my 6al box works, i have power to it but no power on the ground side.

thanks for any help,

Drew

plus if i recall, the msdbox is in circuit after the ignition switch isnt it? so if im not even getting power to the ign switch then im sure as hell not getting power since the + for the 6al is on the starter relay.

What year car? When there's nothing in you sig, even the best ideas are just wild gueses. Fill you sig in with your car year & mods, it helps all of us when we try to understand your problems.

The following diagrams are for 87-90 5.0 stangs. If you have a 91 or later make another post & I'll give you the link to the wiring diagrams for those model years.

See the following website for some help from Tmoss (diagram designer) & Stang&2Birds (website host) for help on 88-90 wiring

diagram #2 , -alt-links-ign-ac.gif shows the fuse links & power to every part of the computer & ignition circuit. This is the starting place to look for missing voltages & open circuits.

If you're good with electrical circuits & a voltmeter this won't be hard. If you aren't good with electrical stuff, find a bud who is. If you don't, this will be a very long post.
