My car sounds like I have a small lopey cam in it- sounds cool but I know something is wrong. People have even pulled up to me and asked what cam im running lol. Anyways, I was told it was probably my IAC. So, I cleaned it-idle seemed to get better but still present. I went down to kragens and got a new one for 50 bucks, installed it last night. Still have lopey idle. Car seems to run fine when cruising but at stop lights, idle will slightly surge between 0-2rpm. Car will die first thing in the morning when starting up, I have to give it gas and keep the rpms up.

Do you think it could be my oxygen sensors? (no check engine light on). As far as I know they are original-car has 128k on it. I have a magnaflow x-pipe with cats. Do smell a little gas.

Maybe need a new coil? Any other ideas??

Thanks

See the "Surging Idle Checklist for help with all your idle/stall problems. Everything you need to find and fix idle problems is in there.

The first two posts contain all the updates to the fixes. At last count there were 24 possible causes and fixes for surging idle/stall problems. I continue to update it as more people post fixes or ask questions.

I bet your egr valve is the culprit. Pull the vacuum line from the egr and see if it idles correctly, if the egr has vacuum at idle it will cause your problems, I doubt very seriously that it's your iac.

Only mods are bbk shorty headers, magna x-pipe with cats.

So, just pull the vac line from the egr? and if it idles better, then the egr is bad?

Should I put the old Ford IAC back on then?

man i have personally f spent many hours chasin surge problems thru the years. Ive seen on my cars the iab, tps, vacuum leaks from the plenum, stuck pullies, maf dirty or oily from kn filter, air turbulance hitting the maf from a cai, a loose or broken connection to solonoid... And on and on. Use check list.

No, it doesn't mean the egr is bad, just make sure the vacuum line going to the egr doesn't have constant vacuum, you may go ahead and pull the egr off and clean the passages on the throttle body while your at it, and clean the egr also.
