I've got a 00 GT and the other day it stalled after starting, the dealer said its a idle valve, with excess carbon, is this part available aftermarket? or dealer. and how hard is it to install. They want $300 to replace it, sounds kinda high for a part thats right on top of the motor!!!

Sounds like he meant the IAC valve. You can try to clean it out with carb cleaner and see if it helps. Thats only a quick fix though. Don't give $300 to Ford! You can get one at Autozone for $51.

Easy do-it-yourself job. Napa carries them for a lot less than Ford.

yes it does sound like the IAC, and get it from Napa. A lot cheaper and probably better quality.

I am on my third one, $90.08 at the local Ford dealer after tax, its insane to pay them over $200 to install it given it is a 5 minute job. (2 screws, 1 quick disconnect electrical fitting and a pop off hose). The only reason I have bought them from Ford in the past is they were in stock.
