Idling problem?

Hey, I've had my car for 3 weeks now and its started to have a really strange idle. When I got it it would sit steady at about 1000rpm but now after I drive it, it will either fluctuate between 800 and 1500 or just sit at 2000. I have no idea what to do, or even if its a big problem. Does anyone else have this problem?

The first two posts contain all the updates to the fixes. At last count there were 24 possible causes and fixes for surging idle/stall problems. I continue to update it as more people post fixes or ask questions.
