If you couldn't drive your mustang then what would you? My list:

1. 350z/G35
2. C5 (wish I could afford C6)
3. Beyond that might lease an M35

MSRP is about 65k—so about 20k more than my car. i could afford it but i've been a loyal mustang driver since my first car. also, aside from the negative connotations people associate with corvette owners (compensating for a lack of something else, hah), at the time i bought my '06 the Z06's weren't out yet...

after seeing all the reviews of the Z06 i kind of wish i had waited!

yeah I know I traded in my 05 G35 Sedan for my 06 GT. Miss it sometimes, really wanted to trade in my wifes car for the Stang, but we have a Rottie and need her Explorer for the dog.

Well realistic alternatives for me would be the Evo IX or Mazdaspeed 6. But a more expensive alternative is the Audi RS4. I've got a thing for fast AWD sedans

1. 1987 Buick GNX
2. 1969 Mach 1 428 SCJ/Drag pak
3. 1970 Buick GSX stage 1
4. 1969 ZL1 Camaro
5. '55 Chevy with ZO6 engine/drivetrain
6. Bullitt stang(for you PDX)
And of course a 427 Shelby Cobra. With the exception of the new Challenger coming out in a few years and my '07 stang and/or the '86-'87 turbo Buicks anything built after 1971 just doesn't cut the mustard for me.

A replica Bullitt would be cool too. I need to add that to my list too. Maybe we should throw in a black Dodge Charger in as well. I would like to have one with extra self-generating hubcaps since that one lost 5 of them in the car chase across San Fran. I bet the editor crapped when he realized the mistake.

Wasn't the point of this thread to find out what car you would drive if it wasn't a Mustang?

Yes, but still good choices with the old school Stangs.

Well since we are in the 2005+ section I would say we are still okay to go old school. And, why do you wanna rain on our parade?

LOL, I'm not trying to rain on your parade. I just thought it was a given that all of us would love to have any vintage 'stang so I was kinda interested to see if you guys had similar tastes in alternative vehicles.

Well the post originally asked what I would drive if I didn't have "MY" mustang and since I don't have a vintage stang that would be one of my choices. So technically a vintage stang is acceptable for my list. I assume alot of 05 and up owners are also in the classic musclecars since the S-197 is a direct tribute to the older detroit iron. I am sure the new Dodge Challenger and the new Camaro will be instant hits too if priced reasonable. New Vettes and European cars are ok I guess if that is what you like but for the same money give me a classic musclecar in the garage and a retro musclecar with modern suspension and rear wheel drivetrain to drive on sunny days to work and a full size truck for the rest of the time. I really don't need to pull 1g on a skidpad or have magnetic shock dapening widgets to cruise the local car show, take a trip down the strip or got to work. Road courses don't grab me either. I make enuff turns driving in town. Gas mileage was never and will never will be a factor either or I would drive a yugo.
