I am really looking at the Shelby GT first then the 2008 Bullitt. If not those two then...

1. 2008 Dodge Challenger
2. 2009 Chevy Camaro
3. 2009 Toyota Supra- ( I want to buy a domestic, but this car is shaping up to be bad ass)

My girlfriend wants a new Camaro when they come out. I really like the new Challenger concept. I might be trading in the stang in a few years if the Challenger is as sharp as the concept car or I will supercharge the GT and maybe get a shaker hood system by then. I bet the Challenger would kick ass with a shaker hood system and front and rear spoilers. They could call it the AAR 'Cuda option package. BTW an article in Hemmings Muscle Machines said the V6 Camaro will probably have close to 300hp standard. If they keep the V6 cars under 23 grand they will probably sell as many as the can make. I am sure for the first year or two they will overprice the V8 cars out of most peoples budget like most Ford dealers did the '05s until the feeding frenzy subsides.

Jeeps must be built tough as hell. My friend has had a Renegade one for years and he has been brutal on it running it through the creeks and woods. It has holes in the floorboard, dents all around, he doesnt hardly do any maintence on it but it keeps going ang going.

Ever take a 500 mile trip in a 1969 Mach 1 428 Drag Pack? If you have you'll never take one again.

Your vehicles are unliveable as daily drivers. Any pickup truck built today is more comfortable and handles better than a 55 Chevy.

Your list of cars are ones that are nice to look at when you go to a car show, but are best owned and driven by someone else.

Anything build before 1999 just doesn't cut the mustard for me.

Since 1985 I've owned over 200 muscle cars.I always had 1 or 2 for showing per year.I eventually found the best value in Ramblers,they were inexpensive to buy and very easy to restore.My last Rambler was my last show car.I had trophied with all the big 3,G.M.,Chrysler and Ford.I felt the bigger challenge was showing my last Rambler(it was my 7th Rebel),a 1967 Rebel 550 w/290 and 3 on the tree.I had met all my goals taking Best of Show several times and many 1st place awards including top 10 at several muscle car shows.It was my dream car,I miss it but that time in my life is over and fully enjoy owning my 07'GT Mustang.Poco

Maybe some of us here like being the "owner of the car someone else should own" at the car shows you described above. Maybe some people are lucky enough be able to buy the car or cars that they actually like. Collectors do it everyday and most buyers get what THEY LIKE and not what someone else tells them they should like. I dont plan on driving my GT more than 1500-2500 mi per year and only on sunny days off work and/or on weekend trips out of town. No rain/snow and not usually to work because there isn't anyone there I care to try to impress with what I drive. Too many "still living at home" 20 yr old posers try to do that and look silly doing so I might ad. I only drive my GSX about 500 mi per year and that is usually to shows or crusing on the back roads so yes it is very "survivable" and "realistic" for my driving habits. I have a black Silverado for everyday use and only living 3 miles from work I won't put many miles on it either. The thread did not specifically say daily drivers and since I don't drive my GT daily I listed a group of cars that I would drive in the same manner as the ones I own now. I don't know why I my list offended you so much but maybe I should be kinda glad it did??? My list is as "realistic" for me and my situation as you list is to yours. Loosen up a little ....it's just a forum of opinions about cars...not the end of the world. Keep all the car list coming because some of them have been great...but spare the criticism...it make some people look kinda silly.

I can understand the daily driver car and show car.To drive or not to drive.I restored my cars to thrash and bash them,then would go to cruize-ins,Bandimere's and the dog and pony shows.They take a lot time of to keep clean and regular service.I did have a good time doing both.Being a car guy in the hobby is a life style that many live.But what was fun was taking a caravan many miles to national events,like the Impala Association,American Motors Association,Late Great Chevies...too many to list.Every body has different ideas about what fun is with their cars...just ask the new drifter crowd.
Well anyhoo,no matter what you cruize.. drive like tomarrows your last day.Here's a couple of more pics.Poco

Not a weird choice at all. I wish my cars could repair themselves too. The Fury is a definite pre ponycar classic.

My real options:
1)LS1 powered TransAm or Camaro (cheap to modify,best nbang for the buck; T-Tops are nice too)
2)C5 corvette (more expensive than F body, but lighter, better handling; got to love targa roof)
3)a used Lotus Elise (would be perfect if it was powered by K20 not Celica engine; a second more practical beater car is a must to have together with Elise)
My dream cars:
1) C6 ZO6
2) Ford GT
3) Aston Martin Vanguish or DB9 (those are not too fast but I love the looks)
