Are there any ill effects with the off roads? I've read on 2 occasions that they cause a bad unburnt fuel smell. Is that the general consensus? I just bought an '06 GT and am trying to design the whole mod package in my head before I lay down any cash. Help an old skool guy out with this new era hotrod stuff.

the pipes usually come with an oil coating to protect them from rust. as they get hot after installation, the oil coating burns off. this could be the smell. when you dont have cats, there is nothing to burn up the hydrocarbons in the exhaust, soi it does smell different. I LOVE IT!! off road h FTW!!!

cats basically "clean" the exhuast on pollution controlled vehicles, offroad pipe, ie no cats dont have this nice feature and you get the beautiful smell of fuel.

no prob, if you dont live in a state with emissions testing though, no cats can free up afew ponies, plus the exhuast note may be better(or louder)

my car has a little smell if you're standing behind it with my off road H. But you never smell it in the car, even with the windows down. It's NOTHING like how my 5.0 smelled with off road X.

I will never run without cats again. People could smell the exhaust on my clothes after riding around with the windows down. I would smell like I just mowed the lawn.

Will a tune/flash whatever they're called fix that?

Redfire, is there any way possible at all that you could post a sound clip of your JBAs and O/R H? Cuz if my O/R H is too loud with my SLPs (which it prolly wont be), then I'll put my old JBAs back on with the H-pipe.

HAHA, yeah I know, The only thing I'm kinda worried about is just the start-up. I can baby it real easily, but I don't know how loud the initial start-up will be loudness-wise...

I dont have any means to post a sound clip but they are pretty loud on start up when they are cold. They sound really good when driving, i havent heard the flows in person only in sound clips. The JBA's seem to have a deeper tone, more big block sound to them. Really the car sounds more like a 5.4 than a 4.6

The SLPs will be LOUD LOUD LOUD with the offroad H. I've read several threads about people trying the combo, and if I remember correctly everyone took it back off, or swapped out their mufflers for something else. It's like running straight pipes right off the stock manifolds!

I am still running my Offroad H and SLP LM combo after about 3 months. I love them and have gotten used to them. They are EXTREMELY loud as you all guessed. I have not been pulled over once. It sounds EVIL under overpasses and when i'm on it.

Initially I was going to pull them off...but everyone knows me and my car now and say they love it. I even received threats of physical harm if I remove them.

I do smell the gas when I am at a stop. I do smell it on my every now and then after leaving the car...but a little cologne covers it up.
