Ignition lock and tumbler

I'm not sure what the hell happened over night, but I parked the car last night and go to hop in it this morning and now when I try to put the key in the ignition, it will only go about 1/4 in and it gets stuck. Any quick remedies for this?

That's kind of odd. Did someone jam something in it?

not that I can tell. It almost seems like the first set of the needles in the tumbler is just "stuck up."

Is the steering wheel locked (turned to the point where it clicks)? If it is, try 'unloading' the steering wheel (turn it in the opposite direction of how it was turned to lock it) and see if that frees it up.

You might try some graphite lube in the lock.

Otherwise, make sure you have the correct key.

It wasnt locked, but I was turning it from side to side in hopes that it would release to let me enter the key. It didnt release and now eventually locked. I plan to try some of that, I was even looking for a can because I bought some last year.

I know for 100% its the right key, I currently only own 1 ford and two vehicles. I have different sets of keys for each.
