Well u dont have to drive a Mustang! What do you want from your next car? Buy something different.

I personally love my stang and they are great to mod, but I would never buy another car without IRS. I really like German cars that handle properly and are well built (not true of all that I've owned tho, and they have a crap aftermarket for mods).

What do you want from a new car?

In all honesty that thought kind of crossed my mind. I like the looks of the 87-93 hatchbacks, but they seem so flimsy... I had a 91 GT once a long time ago, and I couldn't keep door handles on the drivers door, I only owned it about 2 months because I went through 5 door handles in that short time so I just sold it. I just see mostly ragged out Fox bodies, and a total reconstruction is not what I am looking for.

The old 5.0 may make for an inexpensive build. I know one thing for sure if I get another pre-05 car full length subframe connectors are mod #1, I love them on my 03, and I bet they would make a world of difference on a Fox body.

As most car guys know good power is important, but most important is pleasure driving, I will be .5 seconds slower at the track if it means I enjoy the car more. Just really unsure of where to go next. I know one thing for sure I DO NOT WANT A CAR PAYMENT!!!

I didnt read everything else, but I've been in your shoes so I'm speaking from experience here. Obviously I dont know much about your finances, but heres my .02.....

If you are squared away financially, (little to no debt, not saving for a house, things like that) and you have the money to "treat" yourself to something else....seriously consider it. 4 years ago I bought a supercharged Bullitt in pristine condition, and I loved the hell out of it for about 2 years. Then around the time I turned 25, life happened and I found myself in tough times. All of a sudden racing/modding/detailing my car didn't seem all that important anymore. Fast forward a couple years, I'm back on my feet, doing pretty well for myself to the point where I can afford to throw money at my Bullitt....but I just don't want to. I've been down that road, I know where it winds up (me a few hundred $ in the hole and the car 0.08 seconds faster than it was last week).

I needed something a little more practical for a DD, so I bought a CSRT-4 jaw and once you get past the fact that its an SRT-4, and its ugly as sin, its actually pretty fun to drive, not to mention it's convenient as hell having all that room for my dog and hockey equipment. I also ended up buying a bike to satisfy my go-fast needs, and honestly haven't missed the mustang all that much at all....until recently

Long story short, a man needs variety. We get bored easily. If you have all your ducks in a row, and you're not saving the money for retirement....look around. Find something NEW, mustang of not!

Im bored with mine as well, Ive test drove two 06's, manual and auto.
Loved them both. Even tested a 350Z and hated it.
Whats stopping me.........
1. Resale value for my 04 is low.
2. Dont want to pay high interest and TTL on an 06.
3. Resale on an 06 still is high.

Hopefully the resale on the 05 - 09's will soon drop like a rock due to
the 2011's hitting the streets.

The next 3 months will be the best time to sell a used Mustang, from my perspective at least because we will be in the middle of the summer. Here is Kansas we have all 4 seasons, and this last winter was the worst in probably 10 years. In my case timing the market is important.

After passing up a brand new black '93 Cobra back in 1993 I always wanted to buy a limited edition Mustang. Something you don't see 50,000 of each day. Buying my Mach 1 sealed the deal on that. It's an awesome car that I see rarely on the road. Just what I wanted. I've never got tired of it, ever. Just depends on what your niche is.

Not for my price range. I may sell my 2003 GT and hold the cash until Nov/Dec and buy a 2005-06 GT then. Or I may spring for a clean Fox body...I am undecided! LOL! The issue I have with the Fox is that the nice ones are $6500+ it seems, and for a 20 year old car I am having trouble swallowing that. The ones I have found don't even seem that nice.

Yeah, I know where you are coming from as I tend to get bored with a car after a time as well. I have owned a lot of different sports cars and "sporty" cars over the years. A '73 Plymouth Duster 340, a variety of different years Pontiac Fieros, a 71 Mach 1 Mustang (needed too much work that I couldn't afford back in the mid 80's), Fox body Mustangs, 94 Pontiac Trans Am with T's (had a blast modding that one), a black 95 Mustang GT convertible, a yellow 2001 Mustang GT convertible, a bright blue 2000 Mustang coupe, a 72 Corvette Stingray, a 2004 Hyundai Tiburon (fun little car), etc, etc.
I have to say I really like the style of the 99-04 Mustang models and I keep going back to them. Of course they are also more in my current price range over a newer 05 and up. If I had a chance though I would jump on getting an 05 and up Mustang model, but I would only do it if I also had the extra cash to quickly start modding it the way I would like as I do not like the basic models off the lot and I can't even begin to afford the top of the line models that have everything already on them I would want and more like what you see on a Shelby, Saleen, Roush, etc.
I like scoops, there I said it. But on the 05's and up I am not a big fan on the GT hood scoops though I do like the optional (or aftermarket) side scoops. I really like the Eleanor style hood and would want that on it pretty quickly if possible. Would prefer a convertible as well but a hardtop would be cool too as it means more scoops LOL.
So yeah, I am always looking for something new myself but in the meantime I am really enjoying my current red 2002 GT convertible 5 speed.

i dont know if this is your style.. but it would be one mean car with the mod's you want to do... and it would be in your price range... and def. not a mustang.

a 2002 - 2003 BMW M3. very very fast and very very refined... with crazy handling. depends what your looking for i guess.

When ever I get bored of my current stang.... I try to blow the motor up ahahhaah Get some juice and or a blower, and drive it like you stole it lol. You will have fun again. Trust me When the motor goes, build it up and run more boost or more juice hehe

You may as well eliminate a Mach 1, why would u want that when you can have an 03 Cobra/ For me if i was in your posistion id def get an 03 Cobra or wait for the 11 GT. Why bother with an 05

an 03 Cobra is possible, but I would only want a black or Sonic Blue Cobra! I am not going to buy an 2011 GT. I dont have $35k to spend closer to $20k if I sell my car for $9-10k.

I like the 05-06 GTs, thats why I would bother!
2005-06 GT---$16,000
2011 GT---$34,000
I can assure you for $18k difference I could forget about boredom for a while!

I don't want a payment is the main reason for not ordering a 2011 GT, not to mention I lose 30-40% over the first 3 years of NEW car ownership.

BMW's are a great car..that is until they start needing constant repairs and upkeep and then they quickly become a money pit taking all of your mod fun money away just to keep the silly thing running correctly.

hahahah that's the truth! plus you'd probably break 15 plastic clips that are a dealer only replacement during the install. just thought it might have been something you hadn't considered
