I'm done with mods.

After a lot of thought, I'm done. I have my MAS and gears/driveshaft on the way and after that I am finished with the 'Stang. It just isn't practical, financially or otherwise, to do anything else to my car to make it go fast. I eventually am going to run a blower and do NOT want that on my stock shortblock. I just think it will be easier to start with a fresh block and build it up all at once and drop it in the car. I hate to admit it but I might go with a Chevy too. A good friend of mine has a HUGE shop and is basically a great source of free labor. He thinks if we do it together it will be a good way for me to learn. He has a '62 Nova running in the 10's that he put together (less machine work) so he for sure knows what he is doing. He is thinking about finding me a ChevyII or early Chevelle and putting in a big cubic inch small-block. Want I want to do though is find a Fox and stuff in a 377 or 383. I think it would be pretty cool and the only thing I can see being a problem would be the motor and trans mounts which wouldn't take long to fab and weld up. Basically I don't want to hack up my '94 GT with 38,000 miles on it when I could do the same thing to another car for less money and go faster. Sorry for the long post but I just felt like telling you my plans.

Hey Jake, What about a BBC??? Take a look at the latest CarCraft. Some guy did a "Eleanor" version of a 71 fastback... with a injected 502 crate motor. Also threw on a centri-blower (Paxton or Vortech), I dont know how though, because I thought the chevy injection system was speed/density or something like that. Maybe he switched to a ford computer? VERY nice looking car. I'll tell you what, I wouldn't be embarrassed to drive it.

its not the power, its the principal. Keep chevy in a chevy car and a ford in a ford car. You woudnt go out and put a rb26dett (skyline engine) in a stang would you? Thats just not right.

I'm with this guy. If it meant I'd have to use the skyline powertrain as well, then so be it. I dont know much about the skyline's except that they are a very sick turbocharged awd coupe. I'm not saying ford makes an inferior product or anything. I guess I don't have many morals to follow when it comes to cars.

Im at a loss as to how modding a GT not financially sound or practical. But buying an old piece fox and putting a gas guzzling stroked windsor in there is the way to go? I mean there is nothing wrong with a good 8psi blower on your stock short block. Whats wrong with having a fast car that you can drive every day?

Skyline GT-R's only have 2 doors. GTS's have 4 door model sedans. The only AWD Skyline with 4 doors is a GTS4, powered by RB20DET.

Some people like hybrids, some hate them but as long as it is your car the decision is yours.

Your gonna have a helluva time getting a 502 in a fox. I'm sure it can be done though. My friend has an S-10 with a 454 in it and that was a stretch. Are you really looking to build an all out drag car. The fox platform is a great start. It's very light and motor swaps can be done relitively easy. You can only have so much horsepower before you have to worry about getting it all to the pavement. A 408 Windsor would be my choice for a fox drag car. Hang out in the drag forums and get a feel for what works and what doesn't.

I am talking about building up a SBC simply because in "general" you can put together a stout Chevy motor cheaper than a comparable Ford. Face it, Chevy parts are cheaper than Ford. Also I have a good deal on a strong 383 that I am really thinking about. Like I said though, I am not necessarily putting a Chevy motor in a Fox; it is just something I am throwing around. To answer someone's question: No it's not going to be a drag car but it for sure won't be something I am going to get the groceries in either. I REALLY enjoy my Mustang and would like to keep her the way she is. It is a great car to cruise around in on the weekends with the top down. I just think that I would be better off starting with a new, fresh platform and design it for a specific goal or purpose. I am going to have about a $12,000 budget to work with and am looking for atleast 500rwhp. I think this goal is achievable. If one of you guys could point me to a site or shop that makes good Ford shortblocks or assemblied motors, please do. God bless.

Whats up with the K member. Im gonan guess the chebbie engine isnt gonna just drop in there nice and easy. A custom K is gonna be needed? And tranny mount? Sounds to me like that is not the "practical" thing to do. Once you do have a chebbi engine in ur ford, you will never hear the end of it from chebbie guys. Like, "oh it took a chebbi motor to make that ford move"

Big engines are cool, but i would do a dart block 347 or long rod 306 with a nice power adder. A turbo perhaps?

i think he is talking about buying a junker chevy and putting a chevy engine in that. not the chevy engine in a ford. but a clasic camaro, chevelle, nova would be sweet. there is this cherry apple red 60 something camaro here in town and man is tha tthing sweet, teh guy said it had a 396 adn does that baby purr.

All the fab work I can get done for free so that isn't a problem. Basically I don't want to do anything else to my car, I want to leave it the way it is and start new with something else. I have a large cubic inch small block in mind. An aluminum-headed 347 or 393 would be sick though.
