I'm no mechanic, but I'm decently proud of myself because:
1. I was able to assess my smog pump pulley was broken
2. I bought a new shorter serpentine belt and bypassed the entire smog pump assembly.
3. I timed it perfectly, I got my inspection done, the day before my smog pump called it quits.

All of this probably means nothing to you gear heads , but I read about your crazy accomplishments all the time and I'm proud of this little bitty one.

Nicely done.

FWIW, if you still run the stock H-pipe, you will probably want to get a functional pump on there.

you should be proud of yourself. i'm 50 now and all the dads of my kids' friends are too afraid to even try to do something as simple as changing spark plug wires. ok ... there is one guy, jim, who isn't afraid to get his hands dirty, but he is the only one.

so keep it up. before you know it, you'll be doing your own brake jobs and saving yourself good money on all the maintenance things that drain most people's money.

I do still run the stock H pipe but I wanted to get a new exhaust setup next month. Thanks for the advice though. I appreciate it.

Just out of curiosity, why is that? Will it kill the catalytic converters or what?

Black Vert: Yeah I just changed my plugs, wires, cap and rotor last week

The smog pump pushes air into the catalytic converters to help them heat up and burn off some of the unburnt fuel and hydrocarbons in the exhaust. Without that extra air, the cats don't work as well and can become coated; eventually plugging up the exhaust. For a month, you should be fine.
