Hey guys im planning a v8 swap in my 66 coupe and I was wondering if anyone knows what all I will need to change. I have heard the suspension and rear end needs to be changed over. I would like to know much much I am going to spend before doing it. Any input would be appreciated.

Thanks,
Mike

New motor mounts + brackets + exhaust system are a must. Other things (rear end, new driveshaft, trans, brakes, rear springs) as others recommend I don't believe are really crucial unless you are going for race. About front spindles I don't really know how strong they are, some say the are going to break because they are not rated for V8

67rcks is pretty close.

I went for a year on my inline 6 c4 with just a different bellhousing and the crapped out 6 3/4 rear end.

I switched to a 8" after my first time at the track and ended up going 8.50s in the 1/8 before the trans started to slip.

I only went to v8 stuff in the front because the 8" is five lug and I hated looking at the different boltpatterns. The discs stop much better but you don't need them to run around in.

A previous owner of my car didn't replace the four lug front spindles. I had a wheel flange snap on me while heading home from work. Fortunately nobody got hurt.

By the next day I was rollin' on five lugs.
