Took off a dead holley blue fuel pump on my 87GT carbed

Installed a Carter P4070 which is supposed to be like 6psi MAX, well it knocked the needle off its seat on the carb, pegged my fuel pressure gauge (over 15psi) and flooded out the engine. Pump says 4070 on it

When I try to regulate it down the pump makes a crazy noise

the pump technically (runs) ok if I dont try to knock it down to an acceptable pressure

maybe external EFI pump in the wrong casing or something?

any ideas?

yea it was brand new and as I was walking out the door of the store where I bought it the bottom of the box came open and it fell and hit the carpet mat at the door lol

Still took it back and went to mustangs unlimited and got an aeromotive, pressure is stable now

thanks

Have to take out a loan to buy one...their REGULATORS cost more than alot of pumps...other than that, all is good
