So the shop installing my gears is telling me that I NEED: Inner/outer pinion bearings, crush sleeve, pinion seal, pinion nut, and gear bolts. Aren't some of those parts 'on the most part' unnecessary and stock parts re-used? Especially if my car has 42,000 miles on it?
If not, where's the cheapest place to get a kit that matches the items needed? Thanks guys...

I would replace them. I replaced mine when I had my gears put in at 20k miles. Summit sells a good kit. Ratech. Part number RAT-305K. That is the one I used. It is around $80.00

I need to buy a kit also. Is that just a basic kit? My car only has 26k so it should not need that much.

get the smallest kit with the following. you need the pinion shims, carrier shims, crush sleeve, pinion nut, pinion bearings and ring gear bolts.

you don't need the carrier bearings, wheel bearings and seals or that stupid gaskit that causes leaks.

The Ratech I mentioned is just a basic kit. They also have a deluxe kit.
