Hey guys,

I went and pulled my deck from the Stang today to see what ideas might work for mounting the new deck. Inside the opening there is NOTHING to mount to except the bottom mounting point where the factory deck attaches. Here's a picture of the factory deck:

So it looks like it would be a matter of moving the existing hardware over to the new deck:

and

In terms of the front bracket it looks like I would really only need to drill out the existing holes to make them line up exactly with the mounting holes on the new deck.

As far as the rear bracket thing, it looks like it would need to cut and then some how attached to the unit. There are two screws (as you can see in the picture) those screws are both about 3 inches in on each side so if the rear bracket was cut so that it didn't interfere with the wiring spots and then some how added something to the bracket to make it reach to the two screws...

What do you guys think?!?

EDIT: I kind of mocked it up using tape to hold on the brackets and I'm going to get do a little test fit later tonight, I'll let you know how that goes.

Doesn't exist, I've already established this will require some customization. So I was just trying to bounce some ideas off people here!

Alright, so I did the test fit! And it worked REALLY well! I basically used packing tape to hold the bottom part on and I tried a similar procedure on the back part but that failed. So I took that part off and honestly I don't think that it makes to much of a difference.

I forgot to bring my digicam to take pictures but next week I'll try and get some pics. It fit perfect, the only thing was that on the Mach 460 there is that black trim around the edge of the deck so it covers up the metal, unfortunately this unit doesn't have that... so I need to come up with an idea to solve that.

So going forward here I'm going to get bracket holes adjusted to match with the deck and screw size and then I just need to get that wiring harness and I think all is going to be well with this new deck.

Scosche just released a double din kit for the 99-04 Mustang. Don't have the part number in front of my, ISKWEZM could have the correct one. I will post it on Monday (I have it in my office), as I have been waiting for one to come out as well so I can install a Kenwood DDX.
