i installed a BBK AFPR the other day and now when i go to start my car it takes longer to start then it did before. it cranks but it just cranks longer than it usually did before it started. any suggestions??

What is the pressure set at? Doesn't look like your mods are too extreme. Should be about set at around 38psi. Fool around with it to see if it makes any difference at different settings. Maybe it's not the afpr and it's just a coincedence.

when trying to start the car, turn the key on for 2 seconds then off 2.or 3 times. does the engine start right up now?

hook up a fuel pressure gauge, run the engine, shut off the engine and see if the fuel pressure drops.

This is exactly what my car does after BBK FPR install. The pressure drops imediatelly after shutoff. No problems with starting though. BBK regulators are junk.

i thought that all aftermarket regulators were made to reseat after shutoff to prevent evaporation or something in the fuel system??? after shutoff mine drops to 0 but i thought that is what it was supposed to do? i just dont understand why it cranks longer than before with the old regulator before it turns over. i mean it doesnt take like a minute of cranking to get it to turn over. it just takes a few extra seconds

The regulator isn't supposed to allow all of the fuel to drain back into the tank after the car is shut off. The reason it's taking longer to start is that the pump is having to fill the fuel line again every time you start the car.

what you can try in the mean time is, before you start your car. turn the key to the on position. not to crank. just so you dash lights come on. you should hear the pump come on and prime. wait till you hear the pump stop priming. then give it a crank. see if that helps start it a little quicker. it's not going to start like before cause you have a problem with pressure not holding. but this could help save you starter. and take some of that stress from cranking the hell out of it, just to get it started.

I have a BBk regulator and mine holds pressure for about 25 mins/half hour after shutdown, before it starts to bleed off...

None of the little rubber O-rings/ or that oval rubber seal got ripped during the install?

I hope the BBK regulators dont all suck... cause... I got one Was going to get the aeromotive one but heard bad things about them leaking so I ended up buying this one. So far so good!

I heard only a bad things about BBK and Aeromotive. Kirban is supposed to be leakproof.

I have a Kirban, it works great. No issues at all. And it's cheaper than the Aeromotive. I paid $75.00 including shipping from JD's performance

Hmmm

I'll have to keep en eye out.... So far no leaks, and it works like its supposed to... I can strap my fuel pressure guage under the windsheild wiper and F/P goes where it should etc...

Hope it stays workin ok...

its not leaking i checked that. the guys at summit said that the bbk regulator was one of the best regulators to buy. much better then the aeromotive. every guy i talked to up there that has a mustang had a bbk regulator and they all pretty much said that they wouldnt settle for anything less

I had a BBK as well.. Immediately after getting it installed, I found that the fuel pressure immediately falls back to 0 as well.. And now it takes longer to start the car up.. Also I noticed tit doesn't maintain fuel pressure very consistently.. It keeps higher fuel pressure when then engine compartment is cold, than when it is hot.. It's almost impossible to tune with.. Truely a complete piece of junk unit.

My BBK FPR does also fall back to 0 immed after shutdown... and i cant see any leaks?? does anyone know why?

Also i cant regulate the pressure lower than 48psi?? (whitout vacum) and around 40 with vacum... does anyone have a solution on that problem? Is it a big problem running 48psi? feels like the car like it?

My BBK regulator holds pressure after its shut off.. It slowly bleeds down to 0 but that's like, after a half hour/45 mins.....

Lots of things can cause pressure loss after shutdown. Injectors, and isn't there a check valve in the fuel pump itself too?
