installed chip today...no start

Tried installing my chip today, nothing. Car turns over but wont fire. I cleaned the port real well, used a little sand paper too. When I turn the key on the cooling fan comes on and the fuel pump runs and doesnt stop...
I took the chip out and the car runs fine...any ideas?

PCB contacts are not clean

or

Chip is bad

Has this chip worked for you before?

First time ive installed the chip....

Did you clean BOTH sides of the EEC connector? If not you may have a mess on your hands because the chip will have that grease all over it now. Hopefully, after snading you cleaned it all with alcohol and a rag. The other possibility is you sanded it too much and worn down the connectors...

I'd wager the port still isn't clean - but it could (very rare) be a bad chip...

i would use some 0000 steel wool, rather than sandpaper.........it seemed to be less messy and still take all the film on the connection off..

The J3 port isn't clean enough. The constant fan and fuel pump are signs of this. Keep scrubbing with an eraser.

Cleaned it about as good as I can...still nothing...same thing as before. I dunno, guess Ill talk to the tuner..

Yep, that's what I used.

I have had similar problems, except mine starts just won't run at idle. I took the chip out, the problem stopped, then I put it back in after cleaning it thoroughly, and I still occasionally get the problem of it not running at idle. Make sure there is nothing on the terminals of the chip as well, just in case something got caught in it.
