i just installed my BBK equal length headers today! they werent too bad to install, i had to turn into the HULK and put in my passenger side one but i got it in without damaging anything. here is the question:

when i rev the engine up, i hear this PSSSS noise for a second and it goes away. i dont hear it when i drive around. could it be an exhaust leak? i ran the car for about 5-10 mins (while i cleaned up my garage) and i did not hear any exhaust leaks.

one mod i did that i think it could be is my smog pump making that noise. i removed the pipe that ran to my H pipe and i made a mini-dump out of a hose and dumped it 2 inches down from the air outlet on the smog pump. then i took the other piece and routed it in a closed loop. could that be the little PSSS noise i hear?

i feel a bit of a power increase with these headers! i need to tighten down my passenger side engine mount bolt first, the engine shakes pretty bad when i start. i took it off so i can put my header in but later i realized i didnt need to LOL!

so right now, my exhaust looks like this:
BBK Equals + stock H-pipe (will go to 2 cat X pipe soon), dumped spintechs 2 1/2"

You realllly need air into your cats... I believe that you're ruining them.

I'm not quite following your smog pump mod, but, I'm thinking that may be the hiss... Why did you do that? You basically need that air in the cats to increase the temps in them, otherwise I think they will clog with unburned deposits.

well, my air line was cut off and closed when my friend installed the off road H-pipes. it hasnt been in use in many years. i am temporarily using my stock H pipe till my dad ships me my X pipe which ill have next week.

just imagine the air tube coming from the smog pump removed and a little tube shaped like an L pointing downwards 2 inches dumping air to the ground.

K, I see. Maybe get a shorter belt and bypass the pump.

I have an off road H-pipe, bypass the pump with a shorter belt, remove the diverter solonoids and hoses, and use rubber cap plugs on the the pipes from the H-pipe and cylinder heads.
