So I installed the new headliner and sent the car to the paint shop. It was my first headliner job and though it wasn't perfect, I was pretty proud of it given my amateur status. Anyway, the paint shop has a glass guy they use and for $100 he installs the glass. I just got the car back and the guy removed my headliner to install the glass! He now says the paint shop authorized it and I need an upholsterer to fix it. Of course, no refund because they didn't do anything wrong in their opinion. Question is, now that I have to learn to install glass also, can I use the same rubber seals or will they have to be replaced?

Before: Headliner installed, glued and clamped.

After: Headliner removed during glass installation.

I would demand a refund. That is retarded.

If you can get the glass out without ruining the rubber, then you can use it again. I have always had to cut the seal to get the old glass out.

And I thought my luck was bad. I would diffently try and make the installer follow up & reinstall. I wonder what they were even thinking? They probably could remove the glass without damaging the seal, since the seals are new. I had to remove my front & back glass due to headliner issues after paint. I had purchased new seals and they weren't damaged during the reinstall. Good luck.

I don't get it. You have to put the glass in first, than do the headliner. So If you need your rear glass replaced the headliner is going to get screwed in the procces? If it were me I'd have one of the two fix it. That's BS!

Yea, I'll report him to the BBB and take him to small claims court. The BBB is really an idle threat, but some people still get intimidated by the idea. Hopefully, that would be enough to just get him to do the right thing. Saving $40 for the new seals helps at least.
