Installing Alpine R Series 10" Subwoofers in Mach 1000 enclosures

Before someone says it, I have searched but didn't find enough info relating to my exact situation.

I have two Alpine R series 10" subs that I was considering installing in my Mach 1000's sub encosures.

First, is this easily done?
Second, what do I need to know about the speakers to know if they are compatible with the Mach 1000 system or not?

I know there are several models of these Alpine 10s, but I won't know which exact model these are until I remove them from their existing enclosure.

Just wire the Alpine subs to the same impedance as the stock subs.I ll check to see what they a little later.The enclosure is kinda smallish, but i put in 2) JL 10W6's.Theres a bolt in the rear of the magnet that has to be sealed,otherwise it will whistle.

the stock subs are dual 4.6 ohm and 75 watts per coil.

bad idea...the alpine, especially type "R" need a LOT more airspace to hit hard. You might as well leave the old subs in there because thats how hard it's going to hit. Best bet is to remove the old subs and put a new box /w your type r's in there.


btw: i have two type R's (old style) /w a 1000watt amp and it hits HARD.

Thanks guys. Actually I got the car and it had the Mach 460 instead of 1000, which kind of disappointed me. No big deal though. I'll just install a standalone bass amp with my R series in their box, and have a good hitting system. I am happy with the mid/high range sound inside, but it definitely needs more bass.

the Typr R's only need .5-.8 cu ft which is well within the airspace of the enclosure on the minimum side
