Instead of mustang parts I bought Call of Duty 5....need help

Hey guys just finished bolting on my Paxton but it's cold here in Winnipeg so I need something else to occupy my time. I bought COD 5 World at War for the PC..........However it says on the box that you need an AMD 64 3200+ processor , 512 of memory and a 256 mb video card.

I played COD4 on my AMD 64x2 dual core 3800+ with a 1gb of ram and a 512 Radeon 1650x video card. The new game plays like complete crap at the lowest settings. The game looks like it could be really good......but only if I could get it to play right. Any ideas?:shrug:

Put another gig of ram in. See how that works. After that I would say a new video card.

Add at least another gig of RAM. Personally, I'd go 2GB with XP, and if you have any future plans of running Vista, step up to 3GB total. Depending on what your motherboard will support, I'd also upgrade the CPU. An Athlon64 X2 5000+ or better is only in the $60 range nowadays, and should give a good bump in performance, too. You didn't mention what type of hard drive you're running, but with those other system specs, I'd assume it's SATA, not IDE?

What type of expansion slots are on your motherboard? The reason I ask is, the 3200+ came out when AGP was still available, though it was about the time that manufacturers were transitioning to PCI-E, so it could be either one. I probably wouldn't try to play any newer games without something like a GeForce 8500GT as a minimum. I personally don't much care for ATI cards. Just never had much luck with getting them to work properly. Usually it was driver issues, but I've also had chipset incompatibility issues.

dollar for dollar cant beat a 360/ps3 in the present time. a PC is great universal thing games,work,internet, but in order to make it a gaming machine it cost way more but also leaves you room for cheap future expansions. but a 360 can play the game smooth and is about how much a decent video card cost...hmmm...especial since ps3 loses money off there systems and makes up for with the games! that is good thing for the consumer. i want one, but money is so tight and so is time for games!

hehe I wanted a PS3 but I got tricked into buying a Wii for my kids. for kids = fun for Dad = boring.

Yeah I bought this pci-e ATI card back when it was released and paid top dollar but haven't been impressed. It's very frustrating trying to do PC gaming as you never have enough hardware.

I like the RAM idea though........ alot cheaper than buying a new system. I will have to price some out. ANyone know the cheapest place on-line?

do you have a lot of programs running?? check your background programs bcuz they could be taking up a lot of you ram... and your video card might be 512mb but that's most likely shared video memory.. you will probably have to get a card with 512 dedicated and you'll be good to go.. get something with ddr5 memory.

+1 to that.. the nvidia cards are just much nicer and way better compatabiliy

I would suggest OEMPCworld.com I have purchased ram for 3 laptops and a tower from them as well as some other flash drives etc. Usually best prices I can find, and great shipping/customer service! Hope that helps!

I hear that COD5 for the 360 is pretty good. I might be better off just buying another console than upgrading. PC gaming is so frustrating having to constantly upgrade.

I checked my process manager........I do have a lot of stuff running but I'm not sure what I can shut off. stupid windows
