My 65 will soon have its fresh 302. It will have a 1 wire alternator. Does anyone know how I can hook up the warning "idiot" light in the instrument cluster for the alternator? I have an aftermarket voltmeter gauge, but would like for the light to work properly as well. Does anyone have any thoughts?

It depends on what alternator you are using. Some alternators can be turned on by the wire that goes from your idiot light to the voltage regulator. Some require a resistor in the circuit. It would help to know what alt you will be using.

I'm not sure what the exact alternator is. It is coming on my crate motor.

Maybe I am wrong about it being a one wire alternator. We have been planning and working on the 65 for almost a year. For some reason all this time I thought it was a 1 wire alternator. Maybe it isn't.

What do you think?

Here is a link to a picture of basically what I am getting although it isn't the exact one. This picture just shows the alternator better.

You won't be able to hook up your charge light with a 1-wire alternator.
