It seems to me it restricts the airflow which is needed to cool the intake manifold. Why did yhey put it on there ,to keep the engine warm on cool nights? How much does it wiegh?

I agree with everyone else. Been running without one for about a year with no problems.

It weighs less than a pound and that would be a negative on needing it under the hood. I don't have one on for 3 years now.

thanks for the free pic post

No big deal I kinda expected it with the addition of the PMS.
I did it Friday night under the lights @ in nice cold asz weather. They know my car @ MIR and decided to let me go twice and then I had to get off b/c no NHRA approved roll bar.
I have some friends renting a track soon so I'll really be able to test and tune some of my programs w/o limited runs.

The only safety reason for Ford to put it on there is to help smother the flames if you have a fire. Sure it looks better without it, but is it worth it?

I'm takin it off now,i THINK with all the dirt oil and soot it wiehgs more than a pound, and i can see where it is smothering my intake,,,the plastic to keep it on is cheap so i'll just throw it up in the barn till i get tired of lookin at it. Ya the hood looks so much better

I'm going with one of the Shebly Cobra clubs in Nov. It's going to be a closed private session.

There is a Shootout for my Mustang club on the 23rd @ Mason Dixon and Ford Fever Classic @ MIR on the 24th.

Anybody had any problems with it causing the paint on the exterior of the hood to peel and/or bubble?
