intake manifold design vs. user friendlyness

ok this may sound silly, and i realize while picking an intake manifold performance is usually all people care about, but in looking through adds, seeing different designs, i was wondering if there are certain manifolds that are more user friendly or conducive to working on the car with?? for example, the stock one is in the way of absolutly everything. i just wondered if some designs allowed a little more work room and or advantages in the way they their shaped or bolt on.........

i believe you can get your valve covers off with a gt40 intake. it looks cool too.

if you really want user friendly engine bay, go carb

anyways, all the intake manifolds are going to be in your way unless you go the bread box route or victor 5.0, Like stated if you want it to be user friendly definatley go carbed..

i re- desihgned desighn........lol thats what they get fir puttin the g and h right next to each other, ........it's too late to say it was by design...........
actually in looking at some of the manifold DESIGNS, lol, i noticed it looks like some of the ends come off ( edelbrock ) etc and wondered if that was for clearance for removing the valve covers or just for cleaning inside the manifold..........i see bbk has a new DESIGN out thats not boxy and doesnt hang over the valve cover either.

It only takes me about 5 minutes to remove the upper - on mine, 2 torx screws, 6 bolts, intake pipe (one clamp), throttle linkage, vacuum connections and ground wire - and it's off. Any of the long runner designs cover stuff up - I think you'll find it's not too difficult to just remove it. And if my experience is any indication - the gasket can be reused many times.

get the new tfs box intake. that doesn't take much room up.

Aren't the box intakes short runner designs intended for high rpm applications? While it will fit, it will probably hurt low end torque significantly, and with this guy's set up (basically stock w/doa aod) he can't afford any loss in low end. In fact, a stock motor may not even rev high enough (usefully) to get to an rpm range where it can take advantage of that style intake. While it may allow access - I think you'd pay a pretty big price for the access.

yeah that is true, i wouldn't put one on a stock motor unless i had immediate plans to build a good combo to use with it. in that case it's probably not worth it to even install it unless you want to see the difference vs a stock intake.
