Ain't no such thing as "too much" Too many people take what's written in mag articles and books too much, and don't experiment. My 3800 lb Ranger does fine with the Vic Jr, a 4 speed and what would be the equivalent of your 3.50's ( mines got 3.73's but with taller 275/60 rubber) with just a 40 over 5.0 with a B303 cam ( .510 lift though with 1.7 rockers).
